1970s Polaris Snowmobiles

Dorothy Lamour, goddess of the jungle Jacqueline

Venus of the South Seas, the brunette Dorothy Lamour reflects the magic of old Hollywood movies where all dreams were possible and where his voice languid and melodious rocked more an adventure movie or musical. Daubed the foundation, dressed in a sarong, leaning against a tree, this beautiful siren of the 40s is almost a mirage of a world now lost. A fine actress who has also evolved into a humorous crazy jokes alongside the crooner Bing Crosby and Bob Hope.

Born in 1914 in New Orleans, Dorothy Lamour worked very young to provide for his family. Then she sells toys in a department store, the girl goes to a singing contest in Chicago. Spotted by the bandleader Herbie Kaye, Dorothy is committed to her training for tours across the U.S. and radio popular. She also became the wife of Herbie. While in Hollywood, she went unnoticed by Louis B Mayer and other producers but the clumsiness its impresario makes him lose many opportunities. Paramount finally moved him to embody "hula girl from the bush" in a jungle of junk. Covered with dark paint (which earned him skin problems), flanked by the chimpanzee and tiger Kimau Bogo, Dorothy sings and charms the audience with his character of Tarzan.
While continuing the tour with her husband, the new star under contract with Paramount is supporting roles in several musicals for Paramount as the fury of Black Gold (1937) where it is overshadowed by Irene Dunne. Recognizing the potential of brunette, to borrow Samuel Goldwynn Paramount to Hurricane John Ford. His role as daughter Islands enthusiasm the public and newspapers that focus on cinema beauty "typed" as we said at the time. She also recorded the song from the movie "the moon of Monakoora" Hawaiian haunting melody, which is a hit (back in France by Elyane Célis). Now subscribes to the roles of native, Dorothy Lamour successively "Toura the goddess of the jungle" (in the middle of nasty natives who want to throw to the crocodiles white men), the heroine of the Typhoon (technicolor and sarong shortcut), the Aloma Queen of the Islands (with Jon Hall all muscle) or stooge Mahok, elephant devil (which many will laugh some harsh criticism) ... and other tropical fantasies we'd like to see today and which falsely exotic flavor took a deliciously kitsch .
To promote certain films, Dorothy gave a singing tour in the first half, with his sarong and his bracelets, in theaters in New York.
Dorothy Lamour also seems in musicals (St. Louis Blues, the squadron is in port) in classic thrillers or quality (Johnny Apollo with Tyrone Power) or movies like costumes the beautiful horsewoman where for once she is hailed for his performance, without meeting the public support. Humble and lucid, Dorothy Lamour never claimed to be a great actress; to reporters asking whether she had taken voice lessons or acting, she replied "no, it shows! .
In 1940, Dorothy triumphed in the road to Singapore, a musical burlesque dialogues delirious with Bing Crosby and Bob Hope extravagant. The success is such that several sequels will be filmed with the same trio turns to Morocco, Rio and Bali. Besides the lovely languid songs, Dorothy is impeccable in this kind of wacky comedy in which his malice and his mocking tone bring a welcome zest to the cocktail of fantasy. Divorced
Herbie Kaye, star plus dedicated to charity and the war effort (it says it has managed to sell more war bonds than any other star) often comes with JE Hoover, head of the CIA, with which it remains bound until his death. He seems to post much more than it was but tender friendship with the actress married Captain WR Howard.
In 1944, she created It Should Happen to slow you in the musical 4 flirtations and a heart with the vivacious Betty Hutton. She then became the musical remake of Midnight Baroness "Masquerade in Mexico" by Mitchell Leisen, his favorite director. Always modest, the actress would have said, the script is too good, there are dialogues, not for me! Before being persuaded by the director. If the result is disappointing (it seems that some songs are truncated and passages in the surviving version), the provision of Dorothy is very respectable.
Eager to enhance his career towards more ambitious films, actress hesitate not to symbolically burn his sarong before the press. But is it easy to give up so easily an image that sticks to your skin?
After forming a duo with Bob Hope entertaining the brown of my dreams, the actress has gone astray in the land of pirates, adventure film down by critics with a rare violence.
Paramount who took the opportunity to rejuvenate his staff of players went to Dorothy's freedom to launch new younger actresses.
Unfortunately, the few films that the actress will turn into freelance will have no impact to the public. Cancan dancer in Slightly French (1949) or singer's heyday in Belle lulu ( sentenced by a league of decency as amoral), Dorothy did not have the same appeal that sarong.
She agrees to occur around singing at the London Palladium where she won a resounding success.
In 1952, Dorothy made her comeback to the screen in The Greatest Show on Earth, a blockbuster of Cecil B de Mille, often replayed on television. A memorable film m ^ me whether the role of Dorothy instead erased. After a final spin in Bal Bali with his friends Bob Hope and Bing Crosby (and sarong as before), Dorothy leaves the screen to devote himself to his children. As she herself admits, the phone rang more!
Hollywood has never really focused on the glamorous stars of more than 40 years, especially when it is subject to the double chin.
Dorothy will continue to sing on disk, in night clubs and London again. Before to remake a fleeting appearance e (friends noticed) in a final number ... The Road to Hong Kong (1962), despite Bing Crosby's opposition considered that the most bankable and the presence of Joan Collins in the lead female role.
If on occasion, the actress accepted a role even do anything to not be forgotten (the infamous pajama party for example), especially now Dorothy sings on stage (Hello Dolly in 1967). Asked about the film today, the former sex symbol showed himself somewhat embittered attacking "sex, nudity and homosexuality to the screen that are ruining the hopes of youth." It will still appear in TV series, never denying an interview. Very appreciated by her fellow peers for a good mood, its simplicity and humor, Dorothy Lamour passed away in 1994.

Francel, pretty divette films sung prewar

the early 30s, the arrival of talking pictures, there was singing at the top in French films: comedies were very popular at the time, sometimes filmed in partnership with American and German studios better equipped on a technical level. Among the stars of these operettas filmed so prized by the public, and unjustly dismissed and forgotten today were pretty soprano Jacqueline Francel , who had learned his comic opera.

Francel Jacqueline is the daughter of a famous Fernand Francel tenor of the Paris Opera House we saw later in the film The Three Musketeers Diamant-Berger (he played Louis XIII) and alongside his daughter in the call of silence. After taking singing lessons and acrobatics, the brunette girl starts in Paris at the Theatre des Champs-Elysees, in "The Magic Flute" before singing "The Marriage of Figaro" opera comique . Then it veers towards shows easier by dealing with the operetta style very popular in the late 20s. The operetta Flossie (1929) for her is a triumph staff, and even the novelist Colette shared his enthusiasm. In the show also included a man named Jean Gabin in a minor role. His short affair with Jacqueline break the household he formed with Gaby Basset.
The couple ends up in Arsene Lupin banker, musical adapted from novels by Maurice Leblanc. The exquisite Jacqueline is again very noticeable in the operetta naughty Pausole Honegger King, which tells the story of a kingdom whose king debauched changes women every day. Become one of the most young first to Paris, the pretty actress has great taste: Emile Ruhlmann, illustrates production designer, designs to his attention at the Salon of Decorative Artists of 1930, a pair of wooden furniture violet, a dresser and secretary details of enriched silver bronze. Real gems of Art Nouveau that were awarded 305,000 euros by a recent auction.

With the advent of talking pictures, movie studios crave knowing the young actresses sing and play their next productions. In 1932, Jacqueline is committed to Francel Mirages of Paris of Russian director Fyodor Ozep which recounts the rise in Paris to a small Provincial naive gradually lost his illusions in the big city. International success as well as public criticism (we'd like to see on DVD someday!). The same year, Jacqueline played alongside the great Raimu in small chocolate Marc Allegret (so few gags are signed Jacques Prévert). She also has several serious 78s with tunes from operettas such as Florestan I of Sacha Guitry.
Logically, Jacqueline takes on screen roles that made her success on stage (remove me, King Pausole ...). Bleached blonde, like the American stars, all doors open before her, even those of Hollywood. In 1933 she co-starred with Maurice Chevalier in the French version of The Way to Love (love guide). Unfortunately, the result is not very convincing, very bad dialogues and "Jacqueline seems to get bored", to quote the press at the time.
Back in Paris, Jacqueline plays with Henry Garat, the darling of the ladies, in films sung nice, but took a nasty shot of old. In studios in Berlin, she participated in the French version of the operetta Gypsy Baron (1935) with Anton Walbrook. In 1936, she is one the main roles of great American operetta by Yves Mirande seconded by Siodmak: the great chorus, which takes place in the worlds of music hall, with Fernand Gravey in poor but talented young musician, who made his fortune by calling an operetta. Despite the music of Richard Heyman (the path of paradise), and some dreamlike passages to Berkeley, the film errs on the side sentimentality. Jacqueline
dream always to give an international turn in his career, but Kurt Weill's operetta that opens in London is a resounding failure. However, the actress is King Pausole triumph in South America where the piece shocked ... but fills the rooms.

Besides the operettas, one is astonished to discover in the filmography of the singer a biography of Charles de Foucauld, a missionary in Algeria and Morocco, killed in Tamanrasset by a band of rebels and a film loosely inspired by destiny of St. Therese of Lisieux (the leafless pink). Works full of good intentions, but if they made flatly lose interest. The decline
films sung will terminate at the end of the film career of the blonde divette. However , Will continue his career on stage in the operetta including balalaika, with Reda Cairo, in 1938 a success or a resumption of chives in 1942.

In 1941, she married Gabriel Bouillon, professor at the National Conservatory of Music.
After the war, the singer "the voice of tit" turns to the theater. We will find it especially feather in the wind or Potato Nohain Jean Marcel Achard.
Francel Jacqueline died in 1962 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, complications after surgery. Woman with a big heart and an extreme simplicity, she spent tirelessly to several philanthropic endeavors.

Jokes Church Anniversary

Rani Mukherjee Queen of Bollywood

Since the beginning of the XXI century, Indian cinema has gained popularity in Europe
incredible with a bigger crowd: in
reviving the tradition of the golden age of Hollywood, the splendor, the
sequins, choreography and sumptuous deep emotions,
Indian studios are finally able to export their production.
Among the queens of this realm of fairy tale, one of the most beautiful and most popular
stars is called Rani (which means "Queen" in Hindi)
Mukherjee. His voice cracked strange and very sensual as well as its undeniable qualities as an actress
allowed him to carve out a prominent place
in Bollywood. But for how long?

Born in 1978 in Calcutta, Rani Mukherjee has always been steeped in the world
film: his father was a director, his mother a singer, her aunts (Nutan, Tanuja) movie stars and most members of his
family moved in the show business .. . We will specify
this opportunity to Bollywood
nepotism is pervasive, and a young woman without
relationship has no chance of being admitted into the world of film unless it has
won a contest Leading beauty.
If his dad offered him first a small role in 1993, the actress does
will point out that in 1997 in Kuch kuch hota hai, a huge commercial success
and a delightful musical comedy in which she is a bit overshadowed
by the star couple Kajol and Sharukh Khan who is here
really sparks. Besides the facetious Kajol and endearing (his cousin
in life), Rani, her complexion lightened by makeup (it's more chic in India), seems a bit bland. They're still t
launched and appears in films of varying quality (including two with Govinda,
with whom the actress had had an affair). The best known of the lot remains
Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, a history of surrogate bold enough
also gathered a large popular vote. Rani plays a woman there
sterile agrees to resort to borrowing
mother (a prostitute played by an excellent and effervescent Preity Zinta)
the simple story of a couple who decide to unite against the wishes of families)
finally earned him rave reviews. With this success, Rani needed quickly as the most prominent star in Bollywood in a series of very impressive commercial successes: Hum Tum, modern comedy with Saif Ali Khan, Veer Zara, a romantic drama where Rani embodies with grace and emotion contained the lawyer who defends Sharukh Khan and especially Black, Indian remake of The Miracle Worker where Rani unrecognizable impresses in the role of dumb blind supported by an educator obstiné dont elle tombe amoureuse.
Sans jamais atteindre la grâce et la dextérité de la brillante danseuse Madhuri Dixit, Rani, qui a beaucoup étudié oriental dances in his youth had no difficulty in affording the many choreographies that punctuate almost all Indian movies. Her dance number in a ceremony I will however strongly criticized by purists believing that the actress did not respect tradition.
in 2005 became the Indian star No. 1 (the revenue from his films exceed those of SRK), Rani supreme honor to be invited by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at a reception in honor of President Pervez Musharraf , unconditional admirer. In 2006, the actress goes to Paris for the premiere of Veer Zara.
Having reached the summit, the star is yet
experience the greatest difficulty in maintaining their status, always moving in a cinema where new female stars hatch every two months and spent 30 years in which the actresses have the greatest difficulty in continuing their career. If she does well out of the game deKabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, luxurious production on an adulterous affair, sometimes a little outrageous but saved by beautiful choreography, the following films are often very disappointing and will experience a decreasing success. Family Comedy
no credibility, Ta ra rum pum has all the defects of a flashy advertising (we retain only a passenger in a very pop Rani transform bomba latina).
irresponsible statements (and probably distorted ) Rani in a British magazine she said that Hitler is his inspirer, cost will not be beneficial. In 2009, criticism raining down on Dil Bole Hadippa
; The mismatched couple that she forms with the young Shahid Kapoor gets the unenviable distinction of the worst of the year.
approached to star in an adaptation of a novel by Salman Rushdie
directed by Canadian director Deepa Mehta, Rani Mukherjee
eventually withdrew from the project, considering himself too young to
role of mother. It would also have received some proposals from Hol
Lywood, but for now does not accept either. If it proves so difficult
in choosing his roles, the star has not disdained Indian
juries play a dance competition for Indian television, which may seem paradoxical! I imagine that these passages
television had to be very well paid. The star is also considering the possibility of
turn one day to achieve. In all cases, the beautiful actress
certainly still many surprises in store for us
if luck is he wants to smile again.
